Being a son of refugees from a culture that, until recently, didn’t have a written language has solidified the importance of storytelling for me. My mother’s tales ranged anywhere from Woolly Mammoths and Grasshopper Kings to my family’s harrowing journey through the jungles during the Vietnam War. Those seemingly casual interactions have lead me on my own journey with storytelling. My parents gifted me my first Panasonic VHS-C camcorder in 2002, and from there began my journey as a visual storyteller. It has developed into a lifelong commitment of providing viewers with an aesthetically pleasing insight into my interpretation of the world.
I gradated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 with a B.A. in Communication Arts: TV/Film/Radio and a Certificate of Entrepreneurship. After college, I spent almost 2 years as a Marketing Services Department Supervisor for a large home improvement chain. After realizing that my skills and talents were needed elsewhere, I left that position and committed myself to pursuing a career I was good at and passionate about. Since then, I’ve worked on a variety of film, video and television projects and am currently assisting the Valley Media Works team with video productions throughout the City of Eau Claire, WI.
